Twenty-Twenty THRIVE

5 Ways I’m Thriving (and Surviving) in 2025

Albert Einstein once said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” And listen, I felt that. This year, I decided I’m done with the rinse-and-repeat lifestyle that keeps me stuck in the same cycle. It’s time to switch it up and step into my thriving era. These five small but impactful habits are my blueprint to being that ✨ girl ✨ in 2025.

1. Cutting Back on Sugar

Your girl loves sweets. But the older I get, the louder my body protests every bite of cake, candy, or cookies. Between sugar crashes, tummy aches, and my face puffing up like a crescent moon, it’s giving “not worth it.” So, this year, I’m choosing to show my body some love by curbing the sugar cravings. The goal? Less hyperactivity and bloating, and more feeling snatched and fabulous.

2. Investing in Quality Clothes

Not all fabrics are created equal, and not every trend is your friend. This year, I’m saying goodbye to fast fashion free-for-alls and hello to timeless pieces that make me look and feel like money. Case in point: I copped a pair of Levi’s, and baby, they are not Zara jeans. The fit, the fabric, the vibe? Immaculate. Sometimes, spending a little more upfront saves you from the heartbreak of flimsy clothes that don’t last.

3. Trying a New Bible Translation

I’ve been a die-hard NLT (New Living Translation) girlie for years, but sometimes you need to switch things up for fresh insight. So, I treated myself to a brand-new Bible in the ESV (English Standard Version). It’s like seeing the Word through a new lens—the same truth but with a little remix. Who knows what revelations God has in store for me this time?

4. Committing to a Bible Reading Plan

Okay, confession time: my church has been doing a one-year Bible reading plan for five years now, and guess how many times I’ve finished it? Yep, zero. But 2025? Different energy. This is the year I finally make it from Genesis to Revelation. No skipping, no excuses. The plan is laid out; now I just have to stick to it. Hold me accountable, y’all!

5. Teaming Up with an Accountability Partner

Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron,” and that’s exactly why I’ve teamed up with my sister in Christ, Erica. Together, we’re reading the Bible in a year and working through a workbook designed for saved Black women. It’s giving intentional, it’s giving growth, and it’s definitely giving kingdom goals. Who said accountability can’t be fun?

Of course, I’ve got more plans in the works for 2025, but I know we all have the attention span of Dory from Finding Nemo, so I’ll leave it at five for now.

What are your five ways to thrive this year?
Let’s share and inspire each other—because thriving is a team sport, sis.
