Modern Day Judas
As I was getting dressed one morning, I began to look in the mirror. You know what the first thought that popped in my head was? A normal person would probably say, "I look gooood!" I'm not normal so I wouldn't think that. As I looked in the mirror, I thought to myself , "Judas Iscariot died a tragic death."
Acts 1: 18 -"With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas [Iscariot] bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out."
As I proceeded to go my class, my friend called me to tell me how Evangelism went that morning. She began to tell me a story of how some people honestly thought they were saved and they already knew who Jesus Christ was. None of them surrendered their lives to Christ, since they believed they knew Him. Another friend turned to her and told her this:
"Look at Judas Iscariot. He was one of the 12 disciples. He ate with Jesus. He walked with Jesus. He was with the Lord for THREE years as they spread the Gospel. If you saw Judas Iscariot, you, too, will assumed he was saved, since he was so close to Jesus. However, Judas Iscariot wasn't truly saved."
*If you read the first four books of the New Testament, you should notice that Judas Iscariot only called Jesus, "Master", but NEVER "Lord". He hadn't truly completely accepted Jesus Christ in his heart as his Savior.
This really hit me because it was the truth!
Many Christians are like that today. We go to church, when we don't have other plans. We 'read' our bibles, just to say we did. We sing a gospel song here and there. We say a prayer every once in a while and we definitely say a prayer when we want something.
After we are done playing religion, can we honestly say we really know Christ?
Can we say that we are in God's presence, like Judas Iscariot, and still not let Him be our Lord? Can we say that we only call Him "Master" out of respect from what the Bible says about Him?
"For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as GOD nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened."
Or can we say that we have an intimate relationship with Christ? Can we say that Christ makes the decision in our lives? Can we say we call Him Lord for what we know He has done for us and what He has continued to do for us?
