Insecurity
I think it’s safe to admit that we all have our own insecurities. With every new season, we are affected by different elements of life that expose the nature of our heart and how we view ourselves.
In middle school, I was insecure about wearing hand me down clothes and having no sense of style. In high school, I was insecure about my SAT scores and getting rejected from my state’s flagship school. In my 5th year of college, I was insecure about not graduating “on time.” Fast forward a few years, I found myself insecure that I was single and had never been in a real relationship. As late mid 20-year-old Millenial, I found myself insecure about not being a “real adult” - the apt, the new car, the fab job, the financially stable bank account and the yearly girl trip pictures for social media. Yes, a girl can dream.
That’s the issue with insecurities. They don’t let you enjoy the now in life and hinder you from seeing what God can do to change your current situation.
I wish I could tell my younger self, you do have style, you’re just broke. Or tell my college self, graduating period is a testimony to God and HR don’t care what “class of 20__” you are. Or even tell my younger 20 y/o self, that being single is the littest thing ever and married is sweet at any age. And every day I thank the Lord I live with my parents as I wipe my tears with my paycheck. HELLO!
Whatever insecurity you are facing, realize it a lie: a half-truth of the bigger picture God is painting. God is our security and we must be secured in Him and not finding comfort in the lies of the enemy. Your life may have areas where you are not feeling comfortable with in comparison to others, but remember that God isn’t done with you. Enjoy the now and continue to share your insecurities with Him for peace. In a few seasons, you will look back and wonder why you even doubting yourself.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
